The first matches in the 2017 Hard Rock Cafe London Origin series take place this weekend, on Saturday 16th September. The aim of the series is to provide additional and more challenging playing opportunities for players, aiming to secure a place with the London Broncos on their Under 16 and Under 19 Academy programmes.
Origin is the first step on the player pathway towards professional rugby league in London and the South East. The matches are used to assist the London Broncos in their recruitment and selection of players for their Scholarship and Academy programmes. A number of top Super League players from London took part in the Origin series as a junior player, including current Castleford Tigers and England star, Mike McMeeken.
The squads are drawn from 14 community clubs across London and the South East, and the full playing suqads for each club can be found here. The first series of matches take place at New River Stadium, the home of London Skolars, with the Under 14s kicking off first:
11:00am: Under 14s
Midday: Under 15s
1:15pm: Under 17s
New River Stadium is on White Hart Lane, Wood Green, N22 5QW and you can find directions to the ground on the Skolars website here. Entry to specators is free of charge.
